     Auburn Municipal Civil Service
 Meeting -  November 7, 2002 Minutes
Comm. Welch called the meeting to order at 11:00 am. Secretary Arthur Lee took the roll call. Present: Comm. Welch, Comm. Camardo and Comm. Brennan.

Approve minutes of the regular meeting of October 3, 2002; the minutes of the special meeting of October 8, 2002 and the minutes of the public hearing held on October 11, 2002.Motion to approve  the minutes made by Comm. Brennan and  seconded  made by  Comm. Welch. Motion carried 3-0.

New Business
1.      Finance Dept,
    a. The announcement approved for Assistant Comptroller exam to be held January 11, 2003. The qualifications and residency are to remain as listed on the previous exam given in 2001.
b.      Alternate dates have been approved for Alice Cuff and Virginia Chalanick who are candidates for the upcoming Senior Account exam.
2.      School District
The group 4 was chosen as the group to be assigned for the upcoming decentralized clerical exams to be held for the newly created school district titles.
Discussion held about the use of two calendar years or two school years a credit for time served as a school employee ho does not work in the summer recess.
Resolution to be drafted for passing the decision of two school years to be counted as two years credit.
3.      City
Retirement of the custodian at the Police Station has been announced. Decision made to order a new exam for Custodian for the city and not to use the existing list for custodian for the school district. No promotional exam will be ordered as the custodial workers in the city have not been classified as  non- competitive for the required two years per Section 52 of the CS law. City can appoint a provisional.

4.      Municipal Utilities
City Manager and Frank DeOrio, Director of Mun. Util. has contacted this
commission about the split of the current duties of the Industrial Pre-Treatment Coordinator. New job duty statement will be provided.


Discussion tabled about the approval and disapproval of applications for the Civil Service exams.
Motion to adjourn made by Comm. Welch and seconded by Comm. Camardo. Meeting adjourned at 12:00 pm.
